Checking Power Steering Belt Tension

CHECKING POWER STEERING BELT TENSION

1. Press the belt applying a pressure of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lbs.) at the specified point, and measure the deflection to confirm that it is within the standard value range.
Standard value
Drive belt deflection
Regular inspection: 11.7 - 15.3 mm (0.46 - 0.60 inch)
New one: 8.8 - 11.0 mm (0.35 - 0.43 inch)
2. Look at the adjusting bolt in the Q direction as shown in the illustrated. While loosening it counter-clockwise, set the belt on the pulley and then give it tension by turning it clockwise. After that, tighten the hinge bolt and flange nut to the standard value. (Large V6 3.0)

NOTE: When adjusting the belt tension, tighten the hinge bolt and flange nut temporarily and then adjust it so that the tension pulley doesn't lean to one side.
