Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
BRAKE BOOSTERCOMPONENTS
REMOVAL
1. Remove the master cylinder.
CAUTION: When a coated side is stained with brake fluid, it must be cleared at once.
2. Disassemble the vacuum hose from the booster.
3. Remove push rod from the brake pedal.
4. Loosen the booster installation nuts.
5. Remove the booster assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Replace the packing at each end of the booster installation holder in installing the booster assembly.
2. Install the brake booster and tighten installation nuts.
Booster installation nut: 8 - 12 Nm (80 - 120 kgf-cm, 5.9 - 8.9 ft. lbs.)
3. Connect the booster push rod and the brake pedal with a clevis pin, and then install a split pin at the clevis pin.
4. Install the master cylinder.
5. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
6. Test bleeding after pouring brake fluid into the reservoir.
7. Check the fluid leakage.
8. Check and adjust the operation of the brake pedal.
9. After installing, apply the sufficient grease to the contact points between the clevis and the brake pedal.
CAUTION:
^ Bend the split pin to 180° surely when it is installed at the clevis pin which is connected with the booster push rod.
^ Replace the split pin with a new one certainly In Installing.
10. Bleed the system.
