Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

MASTER CYLINDER





COMPONENTS

REMOVAL





1. Remove the connector of brake fluid level sensor.
2. After separating brake line from master cylinder, close the open parts.





CAUTION: Wash the coated surface if it is stained with brake fluid.





3. After removing the master cylinder installation nuts, lift the master cylinder.

INSTALLATION





1. Install master cylinder on brake booster with 2 nuts.
Master cylinder installation nut: 8 - 12 Nm (80 - 120 kgf-cm, 5.9 - 8.9 ft. lbs.)





2. Connect 2 brake tubes
Brake tube flare nut: 13 - 17 Nm (130 - 170 kgf-cm, 9.6 - 12.5 ft. lbs.)

CAUTION: Take care not to bend or twist the brake tube.





3. Install the connector of brake fluid level sensor.





4. Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the system.
