DESCRIPTION:





The 1999 2.5L V6 Sonata starter stud was lengthened beginning with 5/10/99 production. The stud has the following functions:

1. Connects the starter case body and drive housing cone into an assembly.

2. Provides a mounting point for the starter heat shield on 5/10/99 production and later vehicles.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:








Some replacement starters may contain the short stud.

If the vehicle being repaired has a heat shield and the replacement starter is not equipped with the "Long Heat Shield Mounting Stud", remove the stud from the starter being replaced and install the "Long Heat Shield Mounting Stud with Spacer" on the replacement starter.
