Engine Oil: Service and Repair

REPLACING ENGINE OIL

WARNING: Be careful not to burn yourself, as the engine oil is hot.

1. Warm the engine up until it reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Stop the engine





3. Remove the oil filler cap (on rocker cover) and the drain plug (on the oil pan) after removing the mud guard. Drain the engine oil.
4. Re-install and tighten the drain plug to the specified torque.
Tightening toque:
Drain plug: 35-45 Nm (350-450 kg.cm, 26-33 ft. lbs.)





5. Fill new engine oil through the oil filler.
Drain and refill:
without oil filter: 3.0 lit (3.17 U.S. qts, 2.64 Imp. qts.)
with oil filter: 3.3 lit (3.48 U.S. qts, 2.90 Imp. qts.)

NOTE:
- Cover the generator with shop towel before pouring the engine oil to make sure that even if oil is spilt, it may not drop on the generator.
- Use an oil mug or a funnel to pour the engine oil.

6. Install the oil filler cap.
7. Start and run the engine.
8. Stop the engine and then check the oil level. Add oil if necessary.
