Rocker Arms






DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the breather hose and PCV valve.
2. Remove the timing belt cover.
3. Remove the rocker cover.





4. Loosen the flange bolts and remove the rocker arm shaft, rocker arms and rocker arm shaft springs as an assembly.
5. Remove the bolts, the rocker arms and arm shaft springs from the rocker arm shaft.

INSPECTION

Rocker Arm





1. Check the rotation of roller. Replace it if not rough or worn.
2. Check the rocker face. Replace it if damaged or pressed.
3. Check hydraulic lash adjust (HLA) face that contact the valve stem.
If badly worn or damaged, replace the HLA.

Rocker Arm Shaft
1. Check the rocker arm shafts for damage. Replace as necessary.
2. Check the oil hole whether clogged or not.

REASSEMBLY





1. Install the rocker arms and rocker arm shaft springs to the rocker arm shafts, Install the rocker arm shaft to the cylinder head. Tighten the rocker arm shaft mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque:
Rocker arm shaft mounting bolt: 20-27 Nm (200-270 kg.cm, 14-20 ft. lbs.)
2. When installing the rocker arms, shafts, and springs, note the difference between the A and B type rocker arms, and exhaust side needs only A type rocker arms.





3. Install the rocker cover and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque:
Rocker cover bolt: 8-10 Nm (80-100 kg.cm, 6-7 ft. lbs.)





CAUTION:
1) Sealant must be applied to top surface of cylinder head and cam cap and area of application is shown in figure.
2) The proper amount of sealant must be used to prevent the sealant from pushing excessive amounts.
3) Use sealant of specified brands or equivalent.
4) Sealant (Three bond No. 1212D aluminum color or equivalent) application place (4 place).





4. Install the timing belt cover.
Tightening torque:
Timing belt cover bolt: 10-12 Nm (100-120 kg.cm, 7.2-8.7 ft. lbs.)
5. Install the air cleaner.
6. Install the breather hose and PCV hose.
