DOOR WEATHERSTRIP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

DESCRIPTION:

This TSB outlines the procedures for removal and installation of the upper door opening weatherstrip for the Tiburon.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE:








1. Using a trim removal tool, carefully remove the existing plastic plugs from both ends of the door glass weatherstrip.

NOTE
Be careful not to damage the painted surface.





2. Remove the old weatherstrip by pulling at the ends.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:





1. Install the new weatherstrip by starting at the "corner", as noted in the illustration.

2. Using your hands, firmly press the weatherstrip into the stainless steel retaining strip.

3. Work your way away from the corner until all of the weatherstrip is in place.

4. Once you reach the ends, remove the white adhesive paper and firmly press the ends onto the sheet metal.

5. Push in the plastic plugs.

6. Go back and confirm that the installation is done consistently for the whole length of the weatherstrip.

NOTE
There should not be any bunched up, wrinkled, overcompressed, or undercompressed areas.

7. Check that the appearance of the weatherstrip from inside of the vehicle is consistent and neat.

8. Check that the seal is being compressed correctly when the door is closed. Make sure that there are no gaps when the door is shut.
