INSPECTION

NOTE: After removing the column and shaft assembly, look for the following:
a. Check the steering column and shaft for damage and distortion.
b. Check the joints for play, damage or rough movement.
c. Check the tilt bracket and spring for cracks and damage.
d. Check that the steering lock mechanism operates properly.
e Check the dust cover for cracks or damage. If necessary, replace.





OVERHAUL

Key Lock Assembly
1. If it is necessary to remove the key lock assembly, use a punch to make a groove on the head of the special bolt, and then use a screwdriver to remove the key lock assembly mounting bracket.
2. Disassemble the key lock assembly from the steering column and shaft assembly.





3. Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembling the key lock assembly.





Universal Joint Assembly
1. Remove the bolt holding the universal joint assembly and the steering column and shaft assembly.





2. Disassemble the universal joint assembly from the steering column and shaft assembly.
3. Assembly is the reverse order of disassembly.
