Wheels: Testing and Inspection

WHEEL RUNOUT
1. Jack up the vehicle and support it with floor stands.
2. Measure wheel runout with a dial indicator as illustrated.
3. Replace the wheel if wheel runout exceeds the limits listed below:

Steel Wheel
Axial: 1.0 mm (0.039 inch).
Radial: 0.6 mm (0.023 inch), average of LH and RH.

Aluminum Wheel
Axial: 0.3 mm (0.012 inch).
Radial: 0.3 mm (0.012 inch).
