Valve Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from battery.
2. Remove the breather hose between the air cleaner and the rocker cover.
3. Remove the air cleaner.
4. Remove the center cover, then the spark plug connectors.
5. Remove the timing belt upper cover.
6. Remove the rocker cover.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the rocker cover and gasket as follows:

Fig. 9 Rocker Cover Sealant Application:

a. Apply sealant to gasket as shown.
A portion: Threebond No. 10 or equivalent.
B portion: Threebond No.1212D or equivalent.






b. Install bolts by length as shown in illustration:
1 star (*) = 25mm x 6mm
2 stars (**) = 20mm x 6mm
3 stars (***) = 15mm x 6mm
2. Tighten rocker cover bolts to 2.5-3.5 Nm (25-35 kg cm, 2-3 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the air cleaner, then connect the breather hose.
4. Connect the spark plug connectors, then the center cover.
5. Connect the battery cable.
