Front Cross-Member: Service and Repair
DISASSEMBLY
1. Raise the vehicle and position the jack stands.
2. Detach the front and rear roll stopper brackets from the engine mounting bracket.
3. Remove the center member assembly.
NOTE: After removing the member, look for the following.
4. Check each insulator and bushing for cracks or deterioration.
5. Check each bracket for distortion or damage.
ASSEMBLY
1. Install front and rear roll stopper bracket to the center member as illustration.
2. Install the center member assembly.
3. Temporarily tighten the front roll stopper bracket bolt. After the total weight of the engine has been placed on the vehicle body, securely tighten the nut. Tighten these member bolts as follows. Tighten the center member mounting bolt to 60-80 Nm (43-58 ft. lbs.), the front roll stopper bracket to center member bolt to 30-40 Nm (22-29 ft. lbs.), the rear roll stopper bracket to center member bolt to 30-40 Nm (22-29 ft. lbs.), and the insulator to engine mounting bracket bolts to 45-60 Nm (33-43 ft. lbs.).
