Axle Beam: Service and Repair

When removing rear suspension assembly, ensure front of vehicle is adequately supported to prevent tilting during removal procedure.

Fig. 5 Rear Axle & Suspension:

1. Remove strut upper mounting bolts, Fig. 5.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove brake caliper assembly and suspend it with a wire.
5. Remove brake disc.
6. Loosen parking brake cable clip mounting nut, then remove trailing arm mounting bolts.
7. Remove stabilizer bar link mounting nut.
8. Disconnect ABS wheel sensor and cable from knuckle.
9. Support crossmember with transaxle jack.
10. Remove crossmember mounting bolts.
11. Remove rear suspension assembly.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
