1. Remove console box.

2. Disconnect and remove shift knob, Fig. 5.
3. Disconnect position indicator light and Normal/Economy switch, then remove shift lever indicator assembly.
4. Disconnect cable from lever by removing self lock pin.
5. Remove clip and nut from cable support.
6. Remove bolts holding cable mounts to body and firewall.
7. Disconnect cable from transaxle, then remove cable from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Place shift lever and Park Neutral Position (PNP) switch in Neutral positions.
b. Connect cable to shift lever, then install and tighten all outer cable mounts and guides.
c. Pull on inner cable to ensure all slack is removed, then connect cable to PNP switch.

d. Loosen and move adjustment nut on transmission end of cable, if necessary, to ensure slack free installation, Fig. 6.
