Throttle Body: Service and Repair

1. Stop the engine and remove the air intake hose from the throttle body, check the throttle valve blade and throttle body bore for carbon deposits, rotating the valve.

NOTE: The throttle plate must never be removed.

2. Using a shop towel, wipe out carbon deposits from the throttle valve blade and throttle body bore.

NOTE: If necessary, spray cleaning solvent to the throttle valve area and leave it for about 5 minutes. The throttle body must NOT be cleaned by immersion in cleaning solvents. Check for restriction of the vacuum port or passage. Clean the vacuum passage by using compressed air. Except when necessary for replacement, the throttle position sensor must not be removed.
