Thermal Vacuum Valve: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
Provides control over exhaust gas recirculation operation based on coolant temperature. As the engine temperature rises above a preset point, a wax element in the unit expands moving a mechanical valve in the unit. This closes off the vented port (closing the valve) providing vacuum to the EGR valve.
