1992 SONATA 2.0L IDLE VIBRATION

To resolve a complaint of idle vibration, perform the following procedures:

1. Confirm that the base idle is set properly.

2. Confirm that the power steering idle-up is not activated at idle with the steering wheel in a neutral position (wheels straight ahead).

3. Check the A/C pressures to insure that the system is not overcharged.

Application for 1992 Sonatas equipped with 2.0L engines and built prior to June 8, 1992:





4. If the above procedures DO NOT resolve the idle vibration, replace the front exhaust pipe (P/N 28600 - 33880) with a new one.

The braided mesh on the front exhaust pipe has been designed to reduce vibrations on vehicles produced before June 8, 1992. DO NOT change the front exhaust pipe on vehicles built after June 8, 1992 as an attempt to improve idle vibration.
