OIL LEAK BETWEEN OIL FILTER AND MOUNTING BRACKET



Elantras with 1.6 & 1.8L engines and Sonatas with 2.0L engines produced before 6/20/92 could exhibit an oil leak between the oil filter and oil filter mounting bracket. The inside diameter of the mounting surface on the bracket may be too wide causing the oil filter seal not to seat correctly.

If a vehicle experiences an oil leak in the oil filter area inspect the oil filter mounting bracket to determine the manufacturer. If the bracket has the manufacturer logo as shown, the bracket should be replaced. The logo can be seen by looking from under the car and using a mirror.

NOTE:
This procedure should be performed on all dealer stock prior to sale.





Dealers should also inspect this on all applicable vehicles during their maintenance service under ValueCare. If the logo on the bracket is as shown, replace the bracket.
