1993 SONATA SEAT BELT GUIDE REPLACEMENT
The Sonata front lap belt guide was changed for the 1993 model year to improve customer convenience. The new lap belt guide positions the lap belt farther forward on the side of the seat.
NOTE:
Dealer stock should be inspected and the Lap Belt Guide should be replaced on all 1993 Sonatas that are equipped with the previous part.
When 1993 production began the new part was not available and the previous part continued to be installed in production.
Additionally, customers with 1992 vehicles that complaint of the positioning of the lap belt when the belt is released should also have the lap belt guides replaced with the new parts.
Lap Belt Guide Identification
Replacement Procedure:
1. Slide seat forward.
2. Unclip lap belt guide at the top. Use a small screwdriver to open the clip while pushing up on the bottom of the guide to release the tension on the clip.
3. Remove the lap belt from the guide.
4. Unscrew the two screws retaining the lap belt guide to the seat.
5. Attach the new guide in the reverse order.
