KEY CODES AND AUDIO LOCKOUT CODES
DESCRIPTION
Hyundai Dealership Service Managers now have direct access to vehicle key codes and anti-theft audio lock-out codes through the Dealer Communication System (DCS).
KEY CODES
To obtain the key code for a vehicle, select the interactive communications function, enter your personal identification number and then enter the VIN. The key code will then be displayed.
If you try to obtain the key code for an Elantra and only a "J" is displayed, then the key code for that vehicle is not available. DO NOT call Consumer Affairs for assistance because they too will be unable to obtain the code.
To cut a key for a vehicle for which no key code is available, you will need one of the following:
1) the original key and a duplicating key cutter, or
2) the little aluminum tag from the original key ring that has the key code engraved on it.
AUDIO LOCK-OUT CODES
To obtain the audio lock-out codes for a vehicle, select the interactive communications function, enter your personal identification number, then enter the VIN and the radio chassis number. The lock-out code will then be displayed. There could be more than one lock-out code shown, so you may have to try several before you find the correct one.
If no audio lock-out code appears, the car may have been produced too recently for the code to be in the system. Call Consumer Affairs at 1-800-633-5151 to obtain the code.
Radio chassis number locations:
Sonata - on right-hand side of glove box door Excel, Scoupe - under passenger's side carpeting Elantra - on inside of storage compartment door or on inside ceiling of storage compartment (if there is no door). The storage compartment is on the left-hand side of the lower crash pad.
Prior to utilizing this direct access service, Service Managers must enroll through the Personal Enrollment Interactive, because the use of these two new functions is monitored and tracked for security reasons.
