Door - Trim Panel Retention Modification

Model: ELANTRA
Subject:
DOOR TRIM CHANGED AT UPPER SEAT BELT OPENING
DESCRIPTION
The door trim retention method at the upper seat belt opening was changed from a clip-in attachment to a screw attachment.
The clip-in trim could be removed by popping it out of the door trim panel without first removing the door trim panel.
The new screw attachment must be removed from inside of the door after removing the door trim panel. The type of attachment is not apparent externally, but only after removal of the door trim panel. The production date of the vehicle also can help identify which type of attachment is used.
CAUTION:
Prying out a screw attachment trim piece will result in breakage of the piece.
The trim piece is a part of the front passive seat belt assembly, so breakage of this part will require replacement of the entire front seat belt. The trim attachment backing is a part of the front door trim panel and also may be damaged if proper procedures are not followed.
