AIR FILTER SERVICING PRECAUTIONS


When servicing the air filter, care must be taken when handling air intake hose that connects the air cleaner body to the throttle body. Excessive bending could weaken and crack the rubber, causing an air leak downstream of the air flow sensor leading to poor engine performance, stumbling or hesitation. These symptoms are particularly evident when accelerating in forward gears, due to the engine movement which flexes the air intake duct, opening up any cracks.





On the Sonata V6, the breather hose and the air intake hose connected to the throttle body must be removed before removing the cover with the hose attached.





On the Excel and Sonata 2.4L, the air filter cover can be removed with the air intake hose attached, but care should be taken not to kink the hose.
