Front

Replace

1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Disconnect brake hose and line clamp.
3. Remove union bolt between strut and knuckle and raise lower arm. Then attach brake hose, brake line, front speed sensor wiring harness and driveshaft to knuckle with wire to prevent from being pulled out.
4. Reverse procedure to install.

Disassembly

Fig. 6 Exploded View Of Strut Assembly:

1. Remove dust cover with screwdriver.
2. Using special spanner 09546-33000 or equivalent, hold spring upper seat and loosen self-locking nut, Fig. 6.
3. Using spring compressor 09546-1100 or equivalent, compress spring.
4. Remove self-locking nut from strut assembly.

Inspection

Check all strut assembly components for wear or damage and replace as necessary.

Assembly

1. Install lower spring pad ensuring protrusions fit holes in spring lower seat.
2. Using spring compressor 09546-1100 or equivalent, fully compress and install onto strut.
3. Join together dust cover and bump rubber.
4. Install spring upper seat onto piston rod and align D-shaped hole with notch in rod.
5. Align holes in strut assembly spring lower seat with hole in spring upper seat.
6. Install self-locking nut on strut assembly.
7. Align two ends of coil spring to grooves on spring seat.
8. Using special spanner 09546-33000 or equivalent, hold spring upper seat, then tighten self-locking nut.
9. Apply suitable grease to strut insulator bearing and install dust cover.
