NEW SERVICE PART CYLINDER
HEAD FOR 1989-1991 2.4L SONATA
DESCRIPTION:
The service part cylinder head has been changed for the 1989-1991 Sonata 2.4L SOHC engine. The new cylinder heads do not use the "jet valve" design.
PARTS INFORMATION:
Note:
* 4 rocker arms (2 "C" & 2 "D") are included in the Cylinder Head Assembly.
Rocker Arm Inspection:
1. Inspect the rocker arm roller surface. Replace the rocker arm if there are any signs of denting, overheating (blue tint) or pitting.
2. Inspect the rotation of the roller. Replace the rocker arm if there is uneven rotation or any backlash in the roller.
3. Inspect the socket for excessive wear.
4. Inspect the inside of the rocker arm for signs of wear or damage.
5. Apply engine oil to the inside of the rocker arm surface prior to installing the rocker arm onto the shaft.
6. "A" and "B" rocker arms should be replaced with "C" and "D" type rocker arms (see parts illustration).
Rocker Arm Shaft Inspection:
1. Inspect the oil holes to determine that they are clear and free of debris.
2. Inspect the surface for signs of excessive wear or damage.
Note:
The exhaust rocker shaft is shorter than the intake shaft and contains more oil holes.
