Jet Valve, Adjust

CAUTION:
Cylinder head bolts should be retightened before attempting this adjustment.
1. Run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, then check ignition timing and idle speed, adjusting if necessary.
2. Disconnect air intake hose and air intake pipe, then remove rocker cover.

Camshaft Sprocket Timing Mark:

6. Turn crankshaft clockwise and align with camshaft sprocket timing mark.

First, Valve Adjustment Locations:

7. Check that the valves indicated in the image are adjusted to the specified value.

Jet valve clearance
Hot engine...................0.25 mm (0.0098 in.)
Cold engine..................0.17 mm (0.0067 in.)

Adjusting The Jet Valve:

8. If valve clearance is off the standard value, loosen rocker arm adjusting screw locking nut. Use feeler gauge and adjust valve clearance by turning adjusting screw.
9. Secure rocker arm adjusting screw with screw driver so that it will not rotate, then tighten the locking nut.
10. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise one complete revolution (360 degrees).
11. Check that the valves indicated in the image are adjusted to the specified value.

Second, Valve Adjustment Locations:

12. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to adjust the clearance of the remaining two valves.
