ENGINE OIL PAN REMOVAL
The bottom edge of the timing belt lower cover overlaps the left rear corner of the oil pan flange and interferes with this portion of the oil pan during removal. Care must be taken not to force the oil pan past the edge of the timing belt lower cover which may break the cover and allow dirt and debris to enter.
The following procedure will assist you in proper oil pan removal:
1. Drain engine oil.
2. Loosen the timing belt lower cover bolt as shown below.
3. Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.
4. Carefully remove the oil pan while lightly pushing the timing belt lower cover away from the oil pan to gain clearance.
5. Upon reinstalling the oil pan, make sure to retighten the timing belt lower cover bolt.
