Rear Seat Belt

Rear Seat Belt Replacement

NOTE: Check the rear seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary. Be careful not to damage them during removal and installation.

Rear Seat Belt

1. Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).






2. Remove the trunk side trim panel.
3. Remove the upper anchor cap (A), and remove the upper anchor belt (B).






4. Remove the retractor mounting self-tapping ET screw (A), and the retractor bolt (B), then remove the rear seat belt (C) and retractor (D).






5. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength type liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described.
- Assemble the washers, collars and bushing on the upper and lower anchor bolts as shown.
- If the threads on a retractor mounting self-tapping ET screw are worn out, use an oversized self-tapping ET screw, P/N 90133-SZ4-003, made specifically for this application.
- Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the rear seat belt.






Rear Center Seat Belt

1. Remove the metal plate (A) from the retractor cover (B). Detach the clips, and release the hooks (C), then remove the cover.






2. Remove the retractor cover bracket (A) from the headliner (B) by releasing the hooks (C).






3. Remove the quarter pillar trim.
4. While pulling down the rear portion of the headliner, remove the upper anchor bolt (A), and the retractor mounting bolt (B). Take care not to bend the headliner excessively.






5. Remove the center seat belt (A) and retractor (B).






6. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength type liquid thread lock to the upper anchor bolt before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described.
- Assemble the washers, collar and bushing on the upper anchor bolt as shown.
- Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the center seat belt.






Seat Belt Buckles and Center Seat Belt Detachable Anchor

1. Pull the rear seat belt buckles and rear center seat belt detachable anchor out through each elastic band on both seat cushions. Then lift both seat cushions up.
2. From bottom of both rear seat-backs (A), release the fasteners (B) in the rear of the carpet (C). Slip the rear seat belt buckles (D) out through a slit (E) in the buckle anchor carpet (F).






3. Remove the center anchor bolts (A), then remove the seat belt buckles (B) and center seat belt detachable anchor (C).






4. Install the seat belt buckles and detachable anchor in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength type liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to specification with a torque wrench.
- Assemble the washers on the retractor bolt as shown.
- After installing, fix the seat belt buckles and the detachable anchor with elastic bands on both rear seat cushions.
