Transmission Installation

Special Tools Required
^ Frame positioning guide pin 070AG-SJAA10S
^ Engine support hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256*
^ 2008 V6 attachment arm SIL02C000033*
^ Subframe adapter VSB02C000016*
^ Engine hanger balance bar VSB02C000019*
* These special tools are available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program 888-424-6857

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1. Make sure the 14 x 20 mm dowel pin (A) and the 10 x 20 mm dowel pin (B) are installed in the clutch housing.





2. Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the release fork (C) and the release bearing (D). Install the release fork, the release bearing, and the boot (E).

NOTE: Using any other type of grease may cause inconsistent clutch operation and/or excessive wear to the release fork, release bearing, and transmission case.

3. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to engine level.
4. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts.





5. Install the clutch cover (A) and the harness cover (B).





6. Install the intermediate shaft and the driveshafts.
7. Install the transmission mount (A) with new bolts.





8. Install the front engine mount upper bracket (A), with new bolts.





9. Support the subframe with the subframe adapter (A), and a jack.





10. Position the steering gearbox washers (A) on the front subframe (B), and lift the subframe up to the body.





11. Loosely install the new subframe mounting bolts (C), the rear stiffener mounting bolts (D), the front stiffener mounting bolts (E), the front stiffeners (F) and the rear stiffeners (G).
12. Partially tighten the right rear subframe mounting bolt (A); insert the frame position guide pin through the positioning slot (B) on the rear stiffener, through the positioning hole (C) on the subframe, and into the positioning hole on the body, then tighten the subframe mounting bolt.





13. Partially tighten the left rear subframe mounting bolt in the same manner as in step 12.
14. Partially tighten the right and left front subframe mounting bolts.
15. Loosen the right rear mounting bolt, then tighten the bolt to the specified torque with the guide pin in the positioning hole.
16. Tighten the left rear mounting bolt to the specified torque with the guide pin in the positioning hole.
17. Tighten the right and left front mounting bolt to the specified torque.
18. Check that the positioning holes and slots are aligned using the guide pin.
19. Tighten the rear and front stiffener mounting bolts to the specified torque.
20. Remove the jack and front subframe adapter.
21. Install the power steering line holder bolt (A), and the clamp (B).





22. Install new lower transmission mount mounting nuts.





23. Install the subframe mid mount on both sides with new bolts.





24. Connect the knuckle onto the lower arm.
25. Install the damper fork.
26. Connect the front stabilizer link.
27. Install exhaust pipe A and new gaskets (B) with new nuts.





28. Install the front wheels, and set them in the straight-ahead position.
29. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
30. Install the upper transmission mount bolts (A).





31. Install the transmission upper mount bracket (A) with new bolts, and connect the ground cable (B) by installing mounting bolt.





32. Install the new transmission upper mount bracket bolts (A).





33. Install the power steering stiffener plates (A).





34. Install the new rear engine mount stop bolts (A).





35. Install the power steering gearbox mounting bracket (A) then install the heat shield (B).





36. Install the power steering line holder (A), and the clamp (B).





37. Install the new front mount bolt (A), the front engine mount stop (B), the vacuum hose bracket (C) with new nuts, and the harness bracket (D), then connect the vacuum hose (E).





38. Remove the engine support hanger and the engine hanger balance bar from the engine.
39. Install the harness clamp bracket to the rear cylinder head.





40. Install the connector bracket to the front cylinder head.





41. Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the end of the pushrod. Install the slave cylinder. Be careful not to bend the clutch line.





42. Install the shift cable bracket (A) and the shift cables (B).





43. Apply a light coat of super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) or silicone grease (P/N 08C30-B0234M) to the cable ends, then install a lock pins (C) as shown.
44. Install the harness bracket (A).





45. Install the starter (A) and the vacuum hose bracket (B).





46. Connect the starter cable (A), connector (B), and install the harness clamp (C).





47. Install the harness (A), the harness clamps (B), and the harness mount bolt (C) then connect the reverse lockout solenoid connector (D).





48. Install the harness clamps (A), then connect the back-up light switch connector (B), the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector (C), and the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (D).





49. Install the strut brace (A) and the nuts (B), install the harness clamp (C).





50. Install the under-hood fuse/relay box.





51. Install the battery base bolts (A), harness clamps (B) then install the battery base (C).





52. Install the air cleaner assembly.
53. Do the battery installation procedure.
54. Install the air duct (A) and clip (B).





55. Install the grille cover.





56. Install the engine cover (A).





57. Refill the transmission with the recommended transmission fluid.
58. Install the splash shield.





59. Reinstall the hood support struts to the proper locations on both sides of the hood.
60. Check the front wheel alignment. Adjust as necessary.
61. Check the shift ]ever and clutch operation.
62. Test-drive the vehicle.
