Removal and Installation
1. Recover the refrigerant with a Recovery/Recycling/Charging system.2. Disconnect the suction and receiver lines from the evaporator.
NOTE: Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.
3. Remove the glove box and the glove box bracket.
4. Cut the plastic cross brace in the glove box opening with diagonal cutters in the areas shown. Remove and discard the cross brace.
5. Disconnect the connector from the A/C thermostat, and remove the wire harness and the clip from the evaporator. Remove the self-tapping screws, the mounting nuts and the mounting bolt. Disconnect the drain hose, then remove the evaporator.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal. Make note of the following items.
- If you're installing a new evaporator, add refrigerant oil (SP-10).
- Replace the O-rings with new ones at each fitting, and apply a thin coat of refrigerant oil before installing them.
NOTE: Be sure to use the right O-rings for HFC-134a (R-134a) to avoid leakage.
- Apply sealant to the grommets.
- Make sure that there is no air leakage.
- Charge the system, and test its performance.
