Resonator Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

Intake Control Solenoid Valve:

PURPOSE
Used to decrease air intake noise.

OPERATION
The Intake Control Solenoid Valve is Engine Control Module controlled and operates below 3,500 RPM. When the valve is opened, intake manifold vacuum is sent to the intake control diaphragm, causing intake air to pass through the resonator quieting the rushing intake air stream.
