Rattle Above the Windshield
SYMPTOM
A rattling noise from the headliner between the top of the windshield and the moonroof.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The wiring harness for the sun visor vanity lights is rattling against the headliner.
DIAGNOSIS
1. Tap lightly on the roof with your hand. If you hear a rattle, remove the left front corner of the interior trim around the moon roof opening.
2. Locate the wiring harness for the left vanity mirror light. Use a small screwdriver to press down on the wiring harness while you tap on the roof.
^ If this eliminates the rattle1 continue with CORRECTIVE ACTION.
^ If you still hear the rattle, investigate other causes.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Fasten the wiring harness to the headliner with EPT Sealer 3T (see REQUIRED MATERIALS).
1. Open the moonroof and the sun shade.
2. Remove the interior trim from the front half of the moonroof opening.
3. Use a trim pad remover to remove the headliner clip in the center of the headliner above the mirror.
4. Cut two 30 x 70 mm pieces of EPT Sealer 3T Place them over the wiring harness in the area shown.
5. Push the headliner back in place. Reinstall the interior trim.
