Removal

CAUTION:

^ All SRS electrical wiring harnesses are covered with yellow outer insulation.
^ Before disconnecting the SRS wire harness. install the short connector(s) on the airbag(s).
^ Replace the entire affected SRS harness assembly if it has an open circuit or damaged wiring.


1. Remove the driver's airbag assembly and steering wheel.

Lower Panel Removal:






2. Remove the dashboard lower cover and driver's knee bolster.

Cable Reel Connector Removal:






3. Disconnect the cable reel connector from the SRS main harness, then remove the connector holder.

Column Cover Removal:






4. Remove the column covers and cable reel.
5. Disconnect each wire connector from the combination switch.

Combination Switch Removal:





6. Remove the turn signal canceling sleeve and combination switch.

Ignition Switch Wiring:






7. Disconnect the ignition switch connectors from the fuse box under the left side of the dash.

Removing Steering Joint Cover:






8. Remove the steering joint cover by removing the clamps and clips.

Steering Joint Removal:






9. Remove the steering joint bolts and move the joint toward the column.

Column Holder Removal:






1O. Remove the column holder and steering column assembly by removing the attaching nuts and bolts.
