Example of Customer Letter For the Warranty Extension

January 1996

Warranty Extension: 1992-93 Accord Distributor Assembly

Dear Accord Owner:

American Honda has determined that the distributor bearing, a part in your car's ignition system, may not meet Honda's standards for durability. If it should fail, the engine may be difficult to start, or may not start at all.

The potential for this happening is very small. However, in the interests of customer satisfaction, Honda is extending the warranty on the distributor assembly to 6 years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date your car was first sold.

In the event that this problem should occur, contact the nearest Honda dealer. They will replace the distributor assembly free of charge.

We suggest that you keep this letter in the glove box of your Accord with the warranty booklet. It will then remain with the car if you should sell it, and the next owner will be made aware of this warranty extension.

If you have any questions about this warranty extension, please contact the Honda Campaign Information Service Office at (800) 999-1009.
