Blower Motor: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT OPERATION
When the ignition switch is in RUN, voltage is applied to the blower motor relay coil through fuse 8. The relay then energizes, providing voltage to the blower motor. The blower motor ground path is completed when the blower switch is in position 1, 2, 3, or 4. The ground path includes one or more of the blower resistors. As the switch is moved from position 1 to position 4, resistors are bypassed. Decreasing the resistance will increase the voltage across the blower motor, increasing its speed. When the blower switch is in position 5, all resistors are bypassed, and the blower motor runs at full speed.
