General Precautions

WARNING! To avoid personal injury when working on or around the engine, observe the following:

WARNING! When lifting a vehicle:
- Make sure jacks and safety stands are placed properly and hoist brackets are attached to the correct positions on the engine.
- Apply parking brake and block rear wheels, so the car will not roll off stands and fall while you are working under it.

WARNING! When working on cooling system:
Use care when removing the radiator cap to avoid scalding by hot engine coolant or steam.


WARNING! When working on fuel system:
- Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.
- Keep open flame away from work area.
- - Before disconnecting any fuel line, the fuel pressure should be relieved.
- Be sure to relieve fuel pressure while the engine is off.
- Place a shop towel over the 6 mm service bolt to prevent pressurized fuel from spraying over the engine.
- Drain fuel only into an approved container.
