Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Caution: Remove the drain plug carefully if the engine is hot, to avoid scalding.1. Drain the engine oil. Replace the oil filter.
2. Reinstall the drain plug with a new washer. Do not overtighten.
3. Remove flywheel cover or torque converter cover.
4. Remove the retaining nuts and bolts.
5. Carefully pry the oil pan from the block.
NOTE: Do not bend the oil pan.
Oil Pan Installation:
6. Install the oil pan with a new gasket as shown.
Oil Pan Tightening Sequence:
7. Tighten the nuts and bolts as shown.
NOTE: Tighten the nuts and bolts in two steps and torque them in a criss-cross pattern.
Torque: 14 Nm (1.4 kg-m, 10 ft lb)
8. Install flywheel cover or torque converter cover.
9. Fill crankcase with 4.0 qt. oil (includes oil filter capacity).
10. Run engine and inspect for leaks.
