Brake Pedal Assy: Adjustments

Brake Pedal Height Checking:






1. Loosen the brake switch locknut and back off the brake switch until it is no longer touching the brake pedal. Turn up the floor mat and measure the pedal height from the measuring point (cutout) as shown.

Adjusting Pushrod Length:






2. Loosen the pushrod locknut and screw the pushrod in or out with pliers until the pedal height from the floor is properly adjusted. After adjustment. tighten the locknut firmly.

Adjusting Brake Light Switch:






3. Screw in the brake switch until its plunger is fully depressed (threaded end touching pad on pedal arm). Then back off switch so that the clearance between the threaded end and pad is 0.3 - 1.0 mm (0.012 - 0.039 in), and tighten locknut firmly.

CAUTION: Check that the brake lights go off when the pedal is released.

NOTE: After adjusting the pedal height check for cruise control operation.
