Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Under Hood Components:
The Purge Cut-off Solenoid Valve, located on the right side of the firewall, is used to control vacuum to the EVAP purge control valve. Canister purging is accomplished by drawing fresh air through the canister and into a port on the throttle body. The ported vacuum is controlled by the purge control diaphragm valve which is controlled by the Purge Cut-off Solenoid Valve.
NOTE: 5 seconds after engine start, the purge cut-off solenoid valve remains off until coolant temperature raises above: 167° (75°)
