Clutch Disc: Service and Repair

Inspection/Removal
1. Inspect the ring gear teeth for wear or damage.
2. Inspect the clutch disc mating surface on the flywheel for wear, cracks or burning.





3. Measure the flywheel runout using a dial indicator through at least two full turns. Push the flywheel towards the engine to take up the crankshaft thrust washer clearance.

NOTE: The runout can be measured with engine installed.

Standard (New): 0.05 mm (0.002 in.) max.

Service Limit: 0.15 mm (0.006 in.)





4. Remove the eight flywheel mounting bolts and fly wheel.

Installation
1. Align the hole in the flywheel with the crankshaft dowel pin and assembly. Install the bolts only finger tight.





2. Install the Ring Gear Holder, then torque the flywheel bolts in a crisscross pattern, as shown.





3. Install the clutch disc and pressure plate by aligning the flywheel dowel holes in the pressure plate.
4. Install the attaching bolts finger tight.





5. Insert the special tool into the splined hole in the clutch disc.





6. Torque the bolts in a crisscross pattern as shown. Tighten them two turns at a time to prevent warping the diaphragm spring.
7. Remove the Alignment Tool and Ring Gear Holder.
