Failure Mode D

Failure Mode D: Airbag Inflator or Cable Reel Open

1. Disconnect battery negative and positive terminals.
2. Connect special test harness tool No. 07LAZ-SL40200 or equivalent, between SRS system unit and main harness connector, then measure resistance between B1 and B7 terminals. If resistance is more than .2K ohms, go to step 3. If resistance is less than .2K ohms, the SRS unit is defective. Replace as necessary.
3. Connect special test harness tool No. 07LAZ-SL40300 or equivalent, between cable reel harness and main harness 6-pin connector, then measure resistance between No. 4 and No. 5 terminals. If resistance is more than .2K ohms, go to step 4. If resistance is less than .2K ohms, the SRS main harness is defective. Replace as necessary.
4. Connect special test harness tool No. 07LAZ-SL40300 or equivalent, between cable reel harness and airbag harness, then measure resistance between terminals No. 7 and No. 8. If resistance is less than .2K ohms, cable reel is defective. Replace as necessary. If resistance is more than .2K ohms, airbag assembly is defective. Replace as necessary.
