Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
Ignition Coil:
1. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the primary wire connector and the coil wire.
2. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminals A - D:
Resistance value
1.2 - 1.5 ohms
3. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminals B - D:
Resistance value
approx. 2.2k ohms
4. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminal A and the secondary terminal:
Resistance value
9.04k - 13.56k ohms
5. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the terminals A - C:
Continuity
Should Exist
6. If ignition coil fails any of the above tests replace ignition coil
NOTE: Resistance will vary with the coil temperature, specifications are at 70°F (20°C)
