Ignition Rotor: Description and Operation

The distributor rotor is located on the distributor shaft and rotates at the same rate of speed as the camshaft. The rotor contacts the carbon in the center of the distributor cap. As the rotor rotates it transfers high voltage from the coil carbon terminal on the distributor cap to the spark plug terminals in a pre determined sequence (firing order).
