NOTE: Perform the idle speed adjustment with the engine at its normal operating temperature (cooling fan should cycle on and off at least once).

1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake air control diaphragm and clamp the hose closed, Fig. 14.
2. Connect a tachometer to the engine.
3. Start the engine and check the idle speed. Make sure all electrical consumers (headlights, heater, A/C, cooling fan, etc.) are turned OFF.

Idle speed should be:
800 +/- 50 rpm

4. Adjust the idle speed, if necessary, by turning the throttle stop screw, Fig. 15.
