Heater Assembly

Fig. 25 Heater valve cable & mounting nuts.:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect heater hoses at firewall, drain heater core, then plug core tubes.
3. Disconnect heater valve cable from heater valve and remove heater lower mounting nut, Fig. 25.
4. Remove steering wheel and lower steering column cover.
5. Remove dash lower panel, heater control knobs and heater control mounting screws.
6. Remove upper screws securing cluster bezel, pull bezel away from dash and disconnect electrical connectors, then remove bezel.
7. Remove screws securing instrument cluster, pull cluster away from dash and disconnect electrical connectors and speedometer cable, then remove instrument cluster.
8. Remove side air vents, center bolt cover and ashtray assembly, Fig. 28.
9. Disconnect antenna lead and remove bolt securing instrument panel ground to steering column.
10. Disconnect instrument panel harness connectors at fuse panel.

11. Remove instrument panel bolts, Fig. 28, lift up on panel and pull away from cowl to disengage guide pin, then remove instrument panel. Support instrument panel during removal so it will not fall off guide pin.
12. Remove 2 bolts securing heater housing and the housing assembly.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
