Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. To remove the dashboard, first slide the seats back fully and remove the:
- Front console.




2. Remove the hood release handle.

NOTE: Don't disconnect the cable.




3. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the connectors holder at the fuse area.




4. Lower the steering column.

Heater Control Lever Type:
5. Remove the heater control knobs and heater control cover.
6. Remove the radio.
7. Disconnect the heater control connectors from the dashboard inside.
8. Remove the 4 screws attaching the heater control to the dashboard.
9. Disconnect the cool vent and air mix cables from the heater unit (Button type).
10. Remove the gauge assembly, then disconnect the speedometer cable.
11. Remove the clock.
12. Disconnect the antenna cable, and ashtray.
13. Remove the dashboard 7 mounting bolts.
14. Lift the dashboard as you pull so it will slide up and off the guide pin at the middle; hold it from underneath so it won't fall when it comes off the pin.




REASSEMBLY NOTE:
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pin correctly.
- Reconnect the antenna cable before lifting the dashboard onto the guide pin.
- Before tightening the dashboard bolts, make sure the instrument wires are not pinched, and that the dashboard is not interfering with the heater control lever or cable.
