Static on both A/M and F/M radio bands when the air conditioner is on. The static coincides with the cycling of the condenser fan.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install a noise suppressor in the the condenser fan wire harness.
1. Remove the condenser fan connector from its bracket and disconnect it.
2. Connect the adapter harness (see PARTS INFORMATION) to the suppressor.
3. Remove the engine ground wire from the driver's side of the engine bulkhead.
4. Fit the noise suppressor bracket to the ground wire bracket, then reinstall the ground wire.
5. Route the long end of the adapter harness behind the A/C hose and connect it to the lower half of the condensor fan connector.
6. Connect the short end of the adapter harness to the connector half leading to the fan.
7. If necessary, carefully bend the suppressor bracket so the noise suppressor is clear of surrounding parts.
8. Snap the connector at the long end of the adapter harness back into the bracket on the fan shroud.
9. Secure the connector at the short end of the adapter harness to the A/C hose with a wire tie. Make sure that all wires are tied back away from the fan blades and other moving parts.
