PROBLEM
Gasolines and gasohols available in some areas may have higher volatility properties than required for the climatic conditions. When these fuels are used in a 1986-88 carbureted Accord, such fuels may cause hot-engine running problems. These problems may occur when ambient temperatures are high and can be aggravated by high-altitude operation, especially during the spring and summer months.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
If a customer complains of hot-running problems, replace the fuel pump with the new unit listed under PARTS INFORMATION. Follow the replacement procedure in the appropriate Accord service manual.
WARNING
^ Gasoline is extremely flammable and vapors are explosive under certain conditions. Flame or sparks can ignite gasoline and may cause serious injury. Use extreme care while working near fuel.
^ Gasoline is a strong sensitizer and vapors can cause respiratory problems. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with skin, or breathing vapor. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
NOTE: Electric power tools produce sparks which can ignite fuel vapors and may cause an explosion or fire.
