Power Steering Valve: Service and Repair
Pump Cover Removal:
1. Remove bolts in order shown. Separate the pump front cover, pump housing, and port housing.
Control Valve Removal:
2. Remove control valve from pump housing.
Control Valve Spring Removal:
3. Remove control valve spring from pump housing.
Control Valve Inspection:
4. Check for wear, burrs, and other damage to edges of grooves in valve.
Control Valve Function Test:
5. Slide control valve in pump. Ensure movement in and out is free and smooth.
6. If movement is restricted or sticky, replace control valve.
Control Valve Identification:
NOTE: The original valve was selected for a precise fit in the pump housing bore. Ensure the new one has the same identification mark.
7. Install control valve in reverse order of removal.
