Brake Shoe: Adjustments
These models have self-adjusting mechanisms which automatically adjust brake lining to drum clearance each time the brake pedal is depressed and released. If excessive pedal travel or poor braking performance is caused by improperly adjusted rear brakes, the drums should be removed and the self-adjusting mechanisms should be checked and repaired as needed.
Prior to adjusting the parking brake, the brake pedal should be depressed and released several times to ensure the rear brake shoes are properly adjusted.
