Installation

1. Apply silicone sealant GM P/N 12346240, or equivalent, to the engine oil pan mating surface in a continuous bead.





2. Oil pump strainer to cylinder block; secure with two bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pump strainer bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
3. Engine oil pan to cylinder block; secure with sixteen bolts and two nuts.
^ Tighten the engine on pan nuts and bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
4. Clutch housing lower plate (manual transmission equipped vehicles) or torque converter housing lower plate (automatic transmission equipped vehicles).
5. Transmission left side stiffener bracket, two bolts (4 spa. automatic transmission models).
6. Engine oil drain plug and gasket.
^ Tighten the engine oil drain plug to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
7. Crankshaft position sensor.
8. Front differential assembly to chassis (four-wheel drive model vehicles).
9. Front skid plate (if equipped); secure with four bolts.
^ Tighten the front skid plate bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Refill engine oil to specifications.
^ Upon completion of installation, check oil pressure.
