Valve Guide: Service and Repair

INSTALLATION

^ Tools Required:
- J 37972 Reamer
- J 37971 Reamer
- J 37968 Valve Guide Seal Installer Kit
- Or Equivalent





1. Before installing valve guide to cylinder head, ream guide hole with a reamer to remove burrs.

NOTE:
^ Do not reuse old valve guide once disassembled. Install a new valve guide.
^ Intake and exhaust valve guides are identical.





2. Valve guide to cylinder head using a valve guide seal installer. Drive in new valve guide until valve guide seal installer contacts cylinder head. After installing, make sure the valve guide protrudes from cylinder head by 11.5 mm (0.45 inch).





3. Ream valve guide with a reamer. After reaming, clean bore.
